Raid Movie Review

Minus the songs, this is a 5 out of 5 stars movie.

Raid reminded me of Special 26, but better. Special 26 has two problems, its damn slow and there are too many flashbacks, even when the audience just saw everything!

Raid is different (in a good way), it got to the point within the first 15 minutes. I wish Bollywood stops forcing a song in each movie even when its a 0% misfit. This movie has 4 songs and twice it starts off uselessly. Others are in the background, which is ok it adds to the scene.

Raid is about a 1981 Income tax raid that happened at a politicians house (Tauji) where he lives with his joint family. Ajay Devgan (Amay) is the head Income tax officer who conducts the raid under his supervision. He is just too good in such roles. I wish he does these more than the Golmaal stuff, but I get it, Golmaal actually earns money, not a ‘raid’.

Saurabh Shukla, the National Award winning actor, who fits right in irrespective of the character he is portraying. Be it Kallu mama or the judge in JollyLLB or the Tauji in Raid. No doubts he exactly looks like the Tauji.

The pace of the movie is good and every 15 minutes you will find something new happening keeping you on the edge. I highly recommend this low profile movie. I would watch it again when its on cable. Oh sorry I forgot I do not have cable, I meant on Amazon/Netflix etc.

Bonus: Do not miss out on the grandmother, I have given an extra half star for her performance.
