I always have great hopes from Alia when she is doing a serious movie. She does not disappoint me at all in Raazi (but nothing beats her performances in Highway and Udta Punjab).
Raazi is based on a book which was inspired by real events in the 70’s. Alia (Sehmat) is married to an Army family to gather intelligence for life! Its a suspense thriller, exactly the kind I love hence am going with 5 stars. The last time I was seated on the edge of the seat during a movie, it was in ARGO! [If you have not seen the amazingly super suspense thriller Argo, you should watch it right now!]
One of those movies which goes beyond characters, its the story that takes the lead role. Loved the direction hence. Even when most of the movie is shown to be in Pakistan you do not get to see the usual Indo-Pak rivalry. The movie sticks to its plot of Sehmat giving intel from right inside the house and at times from different locations as well. No deviations.
The best part of the movie was that it had no songs, or if it did play I did not notice (awesome) this ensured we all focused on the real thing – the plot.
You should watch it NOW!
