Last Sunday (25th April 2010) I had an unusual guest at my place. A lady doing population census job. I have never encountered this ever before in my (soon to be 30) life 🙂
A very soft spoken lady came home to ask for the very basic questions –
1. Number of family members staying in the house
2. Full names, with date of birth & place of birth
3. Do you have TV, Car, Two Wheeler etc. then she asked me a question for which I had an instant question in return…
4. Do you have a Tape Recorder? I replied ‘What’? I have a Home Theater , does it count? 🙂
Now came the toughest question – your Permanent Address? Well, I actually stood there staring her doing nothing for at least 10 seconds. I did not know which address to give! We left Gomia (A place I covered in my earlier post – Have you heard of Gomia) a long time ago, My father and bother have a house in Ghaziabad, but may change soon, am not sure. We have a house near Patna, but no one stays there, if there’s an inquiry done, I don’t even know if anyone will vouch for me?? I do not have any house in my own name! I live in a rented house.
I finally gave my Ghaziabad house address, which by the way, I did not remember so had to call up dad to get the address. I could see her smiling even when she tried hiding her face under a couple of paper sheets!
It was an interesting experience. By the way, our photos will be clicked only in FEB 2011, god only knows when will we receive our ID cards. Condition that apply – provided I still stay in the same place! My search for the Permanent Address continues….
