Finding Fanny Review

1 Line Review: A Road (trip) Less Taken.

The last roadtrip movie I saw was ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Ek woh movie thi aur ek ye hai! (Disclaimer: I have watched ZNMD more than 50 times). Another roadtrip movie I love and roll on my sofa laughing is ‘Dhamaal’. This one is a copy of an English movie by the name, guess what, Roadtrip! But I love it nevertheless.

Finding Fanny, as the name suggests and no points for guessing, is about finding Fanny. When I first saw the trailer, I thought the movie is about finding a cat or a dog. Let me confirm here that it is indeed a human they were ‘finding’. They are finding Ferdie’s (Naseeruddin Shah) long lost love interest. Also FYI, there is a cat in the movie with a strong role. Watch out.

Boring story apart, the cast is marvellous. Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Pankaj Kapoor, Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah who was my favourite in the movie, his acting brilliance just floors me. No questions asked.

The movie is directed by Homi Adajania. He is the man behind Being Cyrus and Cocktail. Btw, he himself is a hero material. Guess he will soon launch himself! 🙂

Anyways, the point is that the movie is slow and a little boring. There is a lot of humour but fails to make you love the movie as it gets to a predictable ending and kind of extends too much in the end. And btw, the movie is just 93 minutes long, still. Frankly, the first half went off pretty smooth.

The movie has been made in English and dubbed in Hindi. I suggest you go for the English one (if at all you are going for it), else wait for a month it will on TV. And let me also confess that when it appears on TV, I will watch it again. For Naseeruddin Shah and Pankaj Kapoor.
