1 Line Review: You are lonely at the top.
I almost cried. Do I need to say anything else.
The movie portrays the life of Diana in the last 2 years before she died in a car crash in France. The story line includes her separation from Prince Charles and how she falls in love with a Heart Surgeon, Hasnat Khan (a Pakistani). And how this love story unfolds – goes thru many ups and downs.
In the entire movie you will feel Diana’s loneliness. Her involvement with Hasnat almost feels unreal. He is a quiet man and her every step is photographed. How she manages to keep meeting him without upsetting him by taking him to the public eye is amazing.
Once Hasnat actually appeared on the front page of many newspapers as the new love of Lady Diana. After she refuted such claims (to save the limelight from Hasnat), next day’s headline was – Diana says its rubbish! 🙂
Her relationship with Media and photographers was funny alright. She even called few of the photographers on their mobile to get to the right places to capture great pics of hers.
Diana even traveled to Pakistan to meet Hasnat’s family to get their blessings. His mother does not approve of the marriage and Hasnat rejects her. She gets into depression and moves ahead with an involvement with Dodi. Its in France when she was travelling with him that fatal car crash happened.
The scene where she runs on the streets of New York, escaping from a crowd of paparazzi’s will just overwhelm you.
Allow me to give an Oscar to Naomi Watts for performing the Diana role to the perfection. I almost forgot that she is not Diana. Hasnat has been played by Naveen Andrews and he did a great job as well.
Other than the story and beautiful Naomi, you will also get to see some awesome scenery from across the world. Angola, Pakistan, Australia, Bosnia, France and New york.
