1 Line Review: Ek Baar Toh Dekh Hi Lo!
Dil Dhadakne Do (DDD) felt like a distant cousin on ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.’ (a 2007 movie from the same production house) which is trying to be ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’. Its not fair to expect the same awesomeness from each movie the gang makes (after their ZNMD super success). But excuse me if my expectations were a bit high from Farhan and Excel entertainment since the last movie I saw was Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
DDD is about a cruise trip that a successful and rich (well, may be not) business family – the Mehra’s, are hosting, celebrating their wedding anniversary. They have called in all their close friends and not so close friends as well. The story revolves around them (Anil Kapoor and Shefali), their relationship issues, their friends, their business rivals and most importantly their kids – Priyanka and Ranveer.
All 4 of them are struggling in life with something or the other and are waiting for a miracle which will give them the courage to break free and really do what their heart desires!
Watch out for the pet of the house in a pivotal role! Also listen to what he says, very carefully, do you recognise the voice?
DDD is funny and a fultu family entertainment, engaging without a single dull moment. The best part is that this movie takes you on a visually stunning tour of Europe in a cruise. I will not be surprised if rich folks are already planning a cruise trip with their friends after getting inspired by this movie! Watch out for Anushka and Ranveer cycling in Istanbul, loved the conversation and the cinematography. It kind of reminded me of ‘PK’ as well as ‘Taken’. Guess shooting in Istanbul is every filmmaker’s dream or something!
Also checkout that teenage girl with glasses, she has a total of 6 dialogues in the film but they are the best one liners! Loved her. Am no fan of Priyanka but she did a fine job (I liked her best in ‘7 Khoon Maaf’). Ranveer was good too, at times he was too funny. But Anil Kapoor takes the cake, perfection in playing his part. Loved him. Farhan enters the scene a little late but has a key role in the story, let is dawn on you. Another set of actors I became a fan of, was all the ladies from the kitty part y gang, all of them were too cute! 🙂
I became an instant fan of the tittle song but did not like the rest of the numbers, but later it grew on me and now am listening to the entire album. Watch out for the song ‘Gallan Goodiyan’, it was shot in 1 take and in less than 5 minutes!
All in all it was fun. Take your family along, you will come out refreshed.
