Cricket is a religion in Bangalore

Went to the Chinnaswamy Stadium (Bangalore) yesterday to watch the first day of the India vs Australia 2nd test match and you would not believe it that it was so crowded as if it was a One Day match…still the crowd management was so good that getting inside the stadium was a breeze.
The excitement Could be because of the amazing finish we had in Mohali Test a couple of days back [where Ishant Sharma become a batting legend:)]  but otherwise also Bangalore has been a very friendly venue in terms of crowd gathering and appreciation for the guest country.
Even yesterday when Ponting came in to bat every one clapped for him – unlike other venues where he is often booed..he must be thinking – what the hell just happened? Did they actually clap for me 🙂 and when he got to his 50 we all gave a standing ovation to him…surprise surprise 🙂 guess no wonder Bangalore is considered as an example for being a good audience.
There were so many times when the entire stadium got engaged in Mexican Waves in fact the stadium become so lively that on the big screen it started showing “Let’s begin” then continuous wave – with FULL participation from the VIP stands to the students stand, every one stood up and did the wave…the screen kept saying…”Keep Going” and we did 🙂
Virendra Sehwag even said that this is one of the best venues to play!
But the GOD of Cricket will always remain so – Sachin Tendulkar – where ever he takes the fielding position the crowd never stops chanting his name…I would do so even if he not playing 🙂
Keep watching the match…I hope India makes a clean sweep of 2-0. All the best Dhoni and team….
Love from Bengaluru.
