This is the only movie of Tiger Shroff which I saw end to end (other than Student of the Year 2). I have seen all his other movies partially or not seen at all. Not a great fan of his acting but a die hard fan of his dance moves. But no one can come closer to the Dance Guru, the handsome hunk and the best looking actor in the Indian film Industry – Hrithik Roshan (Tiger is close 2nd for sure). I went in for Hrithik. Am a big fan of him. And yes, it was supposed to be a suspense thriller, so for that reason too. Sadly this movie has only 2 songs and hence only 2 opportunities for Hrithik to show his dancing skills, my main interest 🙂
With a runtime of more than two and half hours, it was a little drag in the end. The climax of 20 mins happened when I thought movie should have already ended with the preclimax scene. Sadly thats not the only thing wrong about WAR, the suspense is very much predictable at many places, if not everywhere.
But this is a typical masala movie for having a good time. Paisa wasool kinda.
Now, the post mortem.
Just like me, the director loves Hrithik so much that every time he is on screen, everything moves in slow motion. His entry scene was sooooo long that it looked like we are waiting for Jaya Bhadhuri to welcome him with diya and tika (like in Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham – SRK landing). Duh. But I loved the entry scene of Tiger. He came in and started kicking some good ass. Literally. This fight sequence has zero background music, unlike all Bollywood movies. That gave the fight scenes much more gravitas. Loved it. For that matter all the fight scenes were great and much better than any random thing you see in any Hindi movie. The story line was good enough for a Bollywood movie to be made. If you know what I mean 🙂 Vaani Kapoor appears for a song and vanishes! Jai Jai Shivshankar is an awesome song and it will leave you wanting for more!
Overall its a good one time watch at home preferably as you can fast forward all the scenes that drag.
Have fun !
