I have been in Karnataka for almost 16 years and I must confess, this was the first time I was watching a Kannada movie.
Since I have heard a lot about the movie and this weekend I was looking for a thriller to watch. Netflix aptly showed me U Turn as an option. I started watching it and I soon realised not much of subtile reading was required. I was able to understand much of the language plus there were english words usage.
The movie claims to be based on true events but I doubt. This could purely be for marketing purposes. The story is about a U turn that commuters take from a flyover in Bangalore. A journalist (our protagonist) tries building a harmless story around it but the related deaths around all those who took that U turns makes the story way too complex. There are a few scenes that gave me goosebumps!
The acting was decent but I would not to the right person to judge as this was my first Kannada movie, I should watch more to get a hang of this state’s movies and its reception in the market. I do not have a benchmark, yet. Next I guess I should be watching Lucia, directed by the same person.
With a run time of 2 hours, I felt this could have been a tad shorter, like 30 minutes shorter! I still loved it since it had not music and dance and the drama associated with it!
