There are 3 interrelated stories running in parallel.
An Enthusiastic Housewife (Sulu) winning all kinds of society competitions, a highly frustrated husband (Ashok) doing a thankless job at a garments company and the kid (Pranav) being a typical teenager and a budding businessman! Watch out how this family disintegrates and then unites. Add some sasur and nanads masala, perfect.
But ‘Tumhari’ Sulu is mostly about Vidya Balan and her fantastic acting. She makes you get inside the character she is playing. A super actor, yet again proven, hands down. Having said that, Ashok did a fantastic job of being stuck in a job that sucks beyond repair, all of us have been there at some point in our lives. It hurts, and I can tell it hurts real bad.
Watch out for the creative director (Pankaj) of this WoW radio, he is one character! 🙂 Next best were the twin sisters of Sulu, their characters where real irritating, proof that they performed pretty well.
The storyline is mostly very believable, apart from the fact that a campaign winner gets to meet the radio station head and tried out as an RJ within the same first meeting but then its just a movie, the dialogue delivery session that happens during the RJ tests is hilariously funny. You will lough out so loud your stomach will hurt. Over all I felt like watching a next door family’s story. Once in a while Sulu will keep throwing one liners, and they are just too good.
Only one negative, it felt like a long movie, with a run time of 2 hours and 20 minutes, it could have been wrapped up in 2 hours max. Still a good refreshing watch. Go for it. Take your family along.
