Taken 2 Review

‘This time your mom and I will be taken’!

Well, if you have seen Taken and loved it, you will know the significance of this statement. In the first one it was – ‘This is the hardest part, you will now be taken’.

The movie is a continuation of last one where the father of Marco from Tropoje, Albania, comes back to avenge the death of his son and all the others whom Bryan (Liam Neeson) killed in the first part.

Unlike the first movie where the daughter is taken here he himself is taken along with his wife. Set in the beautiful city of Istanbul. Most Hindi movie loving fans might be quickly able to relate to the initial scenes of Ek Tha Tiger, but don’t you worry no Salman Khan in this movie! But you are welcome to read my review here

Back to Taken 2, The first half of the movie is very energetic, the best part where he guides her daughter how she could find him and her mother, awesome stuff, edge of the seat thriller. The first time conversation with Bryan and the father of Marco is kinda funny. The movie runs in a one and a half hour thriller and in a very fast paced manner which keeps you looking for more. The action sequences and the car chases are beautifully done in the narrow lanes of Istanbul.

As usual Liam is great with his acting and fight scenes, even at the age of 60! The daughter is played by Maggie Grace and has a better and larger role to play in this one. Her mother however has nothing much to do, other than playing the part of a kidnapped person, all through out.

The last scene also brought some smile. Go watch it for Liam.

Verdict: 3/5 (Good thriller)

  1. Neeson is fine in this lead role, but it sort of is getting to the point now of where he’s a bit too old for roles like this. However, it won’t bother the audience that goes out to see this considering the guy has become a new action-movie icon. Good review Aditya.
