Simmba Review

Justice takes too long, all rapists should be shot dead: Lesson to be learnt from Simmba.

Simmba is a story about the turn around of a corrupt cop. It’s a masala movie alright but sorry to say but its not even a typical Rohit Shetty movie. For me a typical RS movie is fun from the first scene itself and it keeps building up and moves fast. Simmba is just too long. For every actual dhasu scene the build up itself takes a long time.

I like Ranveer Singh and his outstanding acting skills but from the first scene itself he was just too loud and shikaar of overacting, or thats what RS told him to do. The script is made for the masses, don’t get me wrong, i know when to enjoy without applying logic and common sense, still this story was crawling that too very slowly. With a runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes it takes a faster paced script to sail well.

Ranveer Singh is the only saviour. Sara has a good screen presence and I hoped to see more of her but guess the script only demanded her presence for less than 15 minutes in total, out of the 160 minutes?! May be, definitely. Ashutosh Rana plays along well, I must admit. The other two constables are very irritating.

I love the songs. My favoriute is ‘Mera Wala Song’. ‘Aankh Maare’ is also good. The Simmba theme songs are not bad.

The last half hour is all about Ajay Devgan. He surely took away Ranveer’s thunder. Also, do not forget to watch out for end credits, you will be told whats coming in 2019.

It’s a good weekend watch. Keeping in mind the interval and the initial ads, it’s almost a 4 hour outing. Enjoy!
