1 Line Review: Tigmanshu Irrfan Aur Jimmy Returns. A good watch.
Tigmanshu Dhulia and Irrfan Khan have teamed up again after Paan Singh Tomar’s roaring success to give another drama, thrill and comedy filled performance. This is a sequel to the 2011 average hit – Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster. Randeep Hooda was the gangster then, here’s its Irrfan Khan.
Saheb (Jimmy) is paralyzed and Biwi (Mahi Gill) is an alcoholic. Both live in the same palace but with no emotional attachment because of what happened in the first part. Saheb wants his Raja wala izzat back and is trying hard to gain power in politics. Falls in love with Ranjhana (Soha Ali) as his mother wants him to get to a better life with a better wife 🙂 Irrfan (Gangster) wants to take revenge of his family glory and teams up with Raj Babbar (Ranjhaa’s dad) to kill the ego inside Saheb. What happens from here is a mix of politics, drama, love, passion, comedy, revenge and the story comes up beautifully. Neil Nitin Mukesh was the initial choice for the Gangster’s role.
Since Saheb was paralyzed he could impress only with his good dialogue delivery and I think Jimmy did good, I liked him in the first part as well. Mahi Gill was good too, with her ever drunk role. Kind of reminded me of Kangana Ranaut 🙂 Irrfan always has a good screen presence. Well done.
One of the very good performances came from Paresh Rana, the new comer, you will remember him as the wild card entrant in Big Boss 3, he ended up being the 1st runner up there. Such was the success for him that he started hosting almost all shows on TV and many award functions after that win! This is his first movie. I liked him. Also, watch out for that funny politician.
Drawbacks: the music was not impressive, the extra item song was not needed AT ALL and with almost two and half hours of run time, it could have been done with 2 hours. I don’t know why directors do not understand that keeping audience gripped in a movie post 2 hours is too much to ask for.
But I would suggest you go have a watch, I liked it.
