M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story: Movie Review

The movie starts with the goosebump moment of our World Cup victory and it surely sets the tone of what’s to come.

Thanks to Sushant Singh Rajput’s dedicated performance, MSD’s legend is carried out beautifully.

First things first.

Its a very loooooong movie, 3 hours and 10 minutes to be precise! Be prepared for it. I mean, if you are going for a 10pm show be prepared to reach home only by 2am in the morning (true story)!

Secondly, this is a Neeraj Pandey movie.

Let me tell you more, you will know what am referring to. Neeraj made Special 26 and Rustom. If you still haven’t got the hint let me tell you his movies have too much drag, the actors behave as if its a Play/Skit and not a movie plus the dialogues/ scenes are repeated to portray the story. Guess he thinks it gives a punch to the storyline but frankly it does not. I was so pissed while I was watching Special 26, it just kept repeating many parts of the movie as if the audience is dumb.

Back to the movie.

Its truly a dedicated to his personal life, upbringing and challenges he faced till he joined the Indian team. The life story of MSD from the time country started knowing him was not really the theme of the movie, as it looks like.

His school days and the real birth of MSD the batsman (not really the wicket keeper) was on a lot of focus. I loved the way his friends were always by his side to help him, encourage, motivate and do whatever it takes for ensure a friend succeed. Har ek friend kamina nahin hota hai.

His life as a Ticket collector/ checker and the way how his life kind of got stagnant and the pain Sushant showcased was touching. Also, watch how the legend of helicopter shot came into existence!

Be prepared to be mesmerized by Yuvi. Yes, the movie features an exact copy of Yuvi, as Yuvi! I actually thought its Yuvi himself!

The movie shows how his sister played an important role in supporting him. He had a girlfriend who died in an accident before he befriended Sakshi and married her. This side of MSD was truly untold, until now.

All in all its a treat to watch. If you are true MSD fan, you will love it but would have expected more stuff to be shown related to his career than just his personal life. Guess we need a part 2 for that!

Go watch this one for now, the Mahi way!
