All sequels to a hit movie have a very high expectation. No rocket science there. And that’s not the only department where Kahaani 2 failed to impress.
The story line was not gripping enough. This again comes up coz I went in with higher expectations, else it was not that bad. But then you should not have used the brand name Kahaani. Its anyone’s guess that Kahaani 3 is also planned. You better this right Mr. Sujoy Ghosh.
Anyways, Vidya Balan did not impress me this time. Nor did the storyline. At times it felt like you are watching a documentary (for example when Vidya started giving gyaan on sex education etc.) Arjun Rampal acted well with a straight face. His wife was funny! Jugal Hansraj appeared in a negative role. His name always rings a bell about his first appearance in Masoom and then the song from his movie ‘Papa Kehte hain’ – Ghar se nikalte hi. Wah, what a beautiful so. Cannot say the same about his acting though. Both the child actors did a ok job in this movie.
Unlike Kahaani 1, it did not get the excitement building up, which could have culminated with a big bang revelation. If I have to compare, it was like what happened with ‘Talaash’. It came up with a lot of expectations, it was a very good movie but did not hold up to the hype that was created around it.
Having said that, its one of the good movies playing this season. Go watch it, if you have not already done it.
