Inkaar Review

1 Line Review: A 2 hour 10 minutes of case study on harassment in corporate life. Just too long!

Disclaimer: Am a big fan of Chitrangada Singh.

Sudhir Mishra is known for his intense direction and screenwriting, Inkaar is also on a very intense subject line, but frankly you lost me after about 45 minutes or so. I was siting restlessly on the seat after that, could hear many begging for it to end during the 2nd half and many even laughed when a few serious scene were on! All this was due to the length of the movie and repetition of dialogues and weak flow of the story line! Do try counting how many times this line was said – ‘when she came back from New York’.

Inkaar tries to bring out a social subject of sexual harassment in offices which by nature is either never brought to light (as it gets suppressed by power and money) or destroys everyone involved – less physically more mentally. This is a case of Maya (Chitrangada Singh) who is the National Creative Director of an Ad agency, filing a case against the CEO Rahul (Arjun Rampal). Maya tries to justify how she was harassed explaining all incidents and Rahul tries explaining his side of the case. Well, this goes ON for more than 2 hours! Sorry but it was not able to grip me, It could have been a 4 part television series at best.

Now, even a photo of Chitrangada Singh stuns me with her beauty and here she was mesmerizing me in this movie, I have always been and will always be a big fan of her beauty and I can assure you, she can act and act well.

But the icing on the cake is Arjun Rampal! His no emotion face fits here in the serious CEO role, he did well, delivered dialogues well. One of the lines that I liked was – “Flirting aur harassment ke beech main dividing line kya hai?”

But all this was going good only till the 1st half of the 1st half. It started dragging and audience started becoming impatient. You can wait for the TV premiere.

P.S. Tailor of ‘Special 26’ impressed me, am looking forward to it’s release in Feb.
