Last week Facebook made few additions to its feature offerings and it affects all of us. The most stunning feature addition was that it shared your personal information with websites like Pandora and docs.com in the name of personalizing your experience when you visit these sites. for example – Pandora will show you those artists or music that you have liked on Facebook in the past. Typically a marketing gimmick. And guess what – by default this sharing has been made active until you act to revoke access!! Talk about speaking on your behalf! Another funny part is that most of these services is not even applicable in India, eg. Pandora –
Even though it will not matter much to you, you may want to take a look at how you can revoke this access –
Step 1 – AS soon as you log in to your Facebook account, go to ‘Account’ (Top right corner) and select ‘Privacy settings’ –
Step 2 – Select ‘Applications and Websites’ –
Step 3 – Click on edit settings at the last option – ‘Instant Personalization‘
Step 4 – un-check the only option on this page – by default it would have been checked. –
Now click on Applications and websites so that you go back to the main page – now click on the second option – What your friends can share about you – click on edit settings –
Now select what you want your friends to share (about you) !!
hey adi…this was really helpful…thanks…:)
