Gmail, buzz and simultaneous logins…

You may say – enough of gmail and buzz but what about simultaneous logins? Well, we all know how buzzing the Google buzz waz, oh sorry was, but did you know how you can turn it off? If yes, then wait for my second revelation. If no then here is the solution – you go all the way down on your Gmail page – when you are logged in – you would see ‘turn of buzz’ next to ‘turn of chat’ and ‘old version’. Take a look here –

Also, did you know – you can always make sure that your Gmail account is never hacked
Well, here’s how – At the same location – down below on your Gmail page, you will notice a sentence stating – ‘Last account activity: 30 minutes ago at this IP (133.166.133.166). Details’

Now, this is also the place where you would see if your account is being accessed from any other location – simultaneously !! YES, this message will give you a warning – ‘This account is open in abc other location at this IP (abc.abc.abc.abc). Last account activity: 30 minutes ago. Details’.

When you click on the ‘Details’ link you will be taken to another window where you should see a regular message – ‘This account does not seem to be open in any other location’. Here you will also get to see the last 5 logins with the type – browser, mobile etc. The location (state and country) and the IP address from where it was accessed. PLUS the time and date.

Automatically your preference has been set to – notify for any unusual activity. This essentially means – if Google notices that your account has been accessed from  any other location (other than your usual location) it will alert you (you can change the notification anytime).

This is very interesting in this age where online fraud and fishing has become very common. Thank you Google for doing something right after creating useless Wave and buzz-ing around 🙂
