1 line review: Strictly meant for die hard Sallu fans, ONLY.
Warning: This is a love story, unlike the promotions that make you believe that a RAW agent (Salman Khan a.k.a Tiger) is destined to do wonders for his country – India.
The release date being the Indian Independence Day and a day after Pakistan Independence Day is a well planned marketing gimmick to get the patriotic side of you. This has nothing to do with Indo-Pak war or rivalry or anything near it. Its a pure love story of a star who has been giving back to back hits hence it was assumed audience will take whatever this actor throws at us, irrespective of how loose the story line is. And ya the ex girl friend factor does all the trick.
After Dabangg [2010] this was my 1st visit to a theatre to watch a Sallu Bhai movie and I am saddened to say that I was disappointed.
Where did it all went wrong? Well, I must say that apart from a few swift action sequences done by Katrina and her awesome dance in the Mashalla song and her awesome beauty, everything else was disappointing. The never ending opening action sequence, pro-longed love angle of an agent, which went on for the 1st 45 minutes with just Salman Khan trying to woe Katrina (a.k.a. Zoya a.k.a Zee) and went on in the 2nd as well for god knows how long, the slow paced dialogue delivery (just before interval, everyone knew what was going to happen and that was supposed to be a suspense angle which took 20 minutes to reach the interval), The fight sequences were prolonged, elongated and Kabir Khan did not know when to say cut, it just went on. For example, in one of the chase sequence, apna Tiger hops on to the top of a tram to bring it to a stop and how! I just laughed my lungs out …the list is long.
May be I went with a wrong/high expectations, but I am not to be blamed, it was projected to the audience as a movie that will wake the patriotic man inside you. Sorry, nothing of that sort happened. Even though Katrina is my love and I will never write anything wrong about her but fact remains that the songs are not that great, unlike other Sallu hits. I am not saying that this will not be a hit, for all you know it will break box office records but who cares, my Rs.300 was not well spent is all that am saying. And I write reviews for my friends and family who might get benefited. But as always these are my personal experiences and views, you are welcome to differ.
I will be frank in saying I also thought of Agent Vinod at times. Must also say that the movie was given the Hollywood ishtyle but got too much into romance and lost focus!

Verdict: I will go with 2/5 for this love story.
And ya, the Mashalla song plays in the end when the credit rolls. Even though you will be tempted to ‘leave’ as soon as the movie ends, let Katrina relax you!
Absolutely honest review once again …
An honest review. But I would NEVER use Rs.300 to watch ANY Sallu movie…i could somehow tolerate Dabbang in my laptop. As you rightly said…it is only for die-hard Sallu fans!
Thank you bhai for your appreciation. It keeps me going! 🙂
Thank you Aditi. Good that you liked the review. Love your blog and your writing skills too! 🙂
Exactly my thoughts after seeing the movie! But a rating of 2 is slightly more than this deserves. 1.5 for the stunts (apart from the tram scene and the bike-to-plane jump) and Kat. Nothing more! Grrr… Still can't get over with the headache after the movie. 🙁
🙂 Well 1.5 was for the movie and extra 0.5 for Katrina darling. I confess am biased! 🙂 But I personally felt that tram scene was hilarious and the bike to plane scene is atleast 2 decades old. Not Sallu's fault, he is not given good script coz he makes 100 crores in such movies.
His success has become a bottleneck in his becoming a real successful actor!
What irony.
Well reading this review after having booked the tickets. Atlesst i go with very very low expectations like i went for rowdy rathore……and enjoy the comic side of the movie rather than sallu or kats or any expectations. Lol
Nice movie review, gud luck
