Bareilly Ki Barfi: Movie Review

The best thing about Bareilly Ki Barfi is the father daughter relationship. Then, Rajkummar Rao.

The movie revolves around Bitti Mishra (Kriti) not getting selected for marriage by the perspective grooms, Chirag Dubey (Ayushman) dismissed from a relationship living a vanvaas life (along with his best friend) and Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao) getting ‘invited’ into a relationship.

While the movie title takes the name from a book which Dubeyji wrote, the movie is a funny take on how the threesome love triangle finally moves towards a very romantic climax.

A mast family drama.

Before I get started with how good Rajkummar Rao is in his role, let me acknowledge the father of the girl, Pankaj Tripathi and her mother, Seema Bhargava. Excellent actors and effortless performance. Trust me, the first scene of the movie of the 3 in this family will stay in your heart, what love! Also the mom’s – ‘Tum Sharbat Loge’ dialogue will bring a smile on your face everytime she sees an eligible bachelor for Bitti.

Now to Vidrohiji, he is supposedly a soft character in the film but Chirag wanted him to play a game with him while Chirag tries to get the attention of Bitti. During the transition process this soft Vidrohiji becomes a don Vidrohi. Watch out for the epic last class of his Don-ship where he has to do the unimaginable and how effortlessly he handles it. Classic seeti bajao moment.

Ayushmann effortlessly does such roles and he is good at it, for the first time I noticed Kriti, guess I have not watched enough of her yet, she is getting there!

All in all, a good movie to watch with your family. Nothing special about the songs though.

Go ahead, muh meetha kijiye, Bareilly Ki Barfi se.

Watch it, before the lights go out – Poore Sheher ki gayi, thodi der main aa jayegi, asuvidha ke liye khed hai.
