1 Line Review: It just blew me away.
We have always expected such kind of movies only from ‘THE’ Hollywood hence this came as a surprise. A pleasant one I mean.
Bahubali was an out of the world experience for me. Facts to be put first, I watched it 2 weeks late but I ensured the hype did not get the best of me so that i could review the movie with my personal opinion and not influenced. I did see how it kept breaking box office records on a daily basis (it sill is) but then movies like Ready or Chennai Express also broke records so box office should never be considered a barometer for good movie.
So the movie starts with a giant water fall and most of the first part of the movie has that waterfall mesmerising you. From the very first scene you will realise that the special effects are gonna be awesome in here. Sit tight and get into the groove. And boy, was I delighted! I was super delighted with the story line and super duper excited with the cinematography, special effects and the sheer largeness of the sets.
The protagonist Shiva/Bahubali (Prabhas) gave an awesome performance, even though I have not seen any other movie of his but am a fan now. His body fits the role, he has that aura around him which makes you feel like he is the real king, his role, the story supporting his homecoming helps you feel for him and you kind of start cheering up for him in everything he does. Yes, you will be surprised to see how you yourself will start liking this character.
The other very strong character is of the Sivagami (Ramya). Her eyes and her body language will showcase the authority she commands in the kingdom. Infact her opening scene of the movie gave me goosebumps. You will also see Tamannah in a very different role, I did not realise but i have started liking her now. Ok, please do not watch Himmathwala after all this (she has done such movies as well)! Rana Duggubati as the king and Katappa as the slave have an amazing chemistry with all the characters.
In the later part of the movie you will see a black community fellows and they have a funny language in which they communicate. Facts to be put forward again, this movie is only the first part and ends with an interesting revelation. Next year you will get to see the conclusion of Bahubali. I can’t wait. Can you? This 2 part movie concept reminded me of Gangs of Wasseypur. Am glad to be comparing 2 epic movies.
I would like to make a special mention of the feeling that I went thru in the entire journey of this movie. We as Indians have always liked movies such as 300 or Apocalypse but this is the very first time that an Indian movie house has dared to produce something this grand and thankfully they did an awesome job on CGI and special effects (they are at par with things we have seen in Hollywood). As a movie lover am very happy to see such a development. More power to all you!
Go watch it in a movie hall, TV can never do justice to the grandness of Bahubali. I wish it was available on iMAX.
