1 Line Review: Poor man’s Rockstar.
Yes, it truly was. The new comers were ok but the story lacked substance! A typical singer/ musician getting into drinking habit and destroying his own carrier meets a girl and tries to make HER a star! This sounds simple enough but then it was sooooo stretched that you will feel like leaving the auditorium during the second half.
To be fair, the music was average but the Bhatt family left no stone unturned to claim that the music was blockbuster (even before it released)! I would have given good review for the music atleast but then they played the same songs so many times that I got irritated and in the end all the songs sounded like each other, so right now I don’t know which song I liked. Total khichadi.
Shraddha Kapoor is one sweet little cute girl for whom all the college boys will fall. She has looked fresh and adorable, but the acting department needs a little more push. Thankgod for she does not look anything like her dad – Shakti Kapoor, that would have been a disaster! 🙂 I have seen her earlier film – Luv ka the end (a teenager flick) I liked her there too.
The hero – Aditya Roy Kapur looks ok but definitely needs to brush up his acting skill. The chemistry between Aditya and Shraddha was good just because both were average! All the other side actors did equally average job.
But the biggest disappointment was its story. It became lame-r in the 2nd half. Dialogues too will disappoint you. Hero keeps asking for help from her counterpart in his struggle to get rid of his drinking habit but still goes and drinks, asks again for help. #fail
And out of nowhere one or the other song starts blaring in the background regularly. Not cool at all. I did not appreciate the ending of the movie, hence I repeat – the story failed.
I suggest you watch the original Aashiqui again and relive your childhood/teenage days!
Bonus: In 2011 I wrote about the original Aashiqui and its songs. How I still have it in my playing list in my car as well as on my mobile. I can sing along all the songs, word by word, even today. Here’s my blog post on the original – ‘Do You Remember The Movie Aashiqui?‘
