1917: Movie Review

I would watch 1917, 1917 times, all on IMAX.

For some reason I saw 1917 pretty late (on 21st Feb 2020) and by this time I have seen multiple making videos on YouTube and they only built up the excitement. Not anywhere, but on IMAX only!

1917 has the best Cinematography, Best sound mixing and Visual Effect. It’s not just me, the Academy also thinks the same. 1917 won the Oscar in these 3 categories, they were nominated in overall 10 categories (and as you know, Parasite swept most of it).

1917 is just an afternoon to dawn story (of 6 and 7 April, 1917) where two British soldiers Will and Tom and ordered to reach a certain general to avoid an attach which is destined to backfire. 1917 takes you along these 2 young lads. The camera hardly ever moves away from them, irrespective of them running, jumping or climbing. Am telling you, you will fall in love with the camerawork here.

The camerawork is so amazing that you will feel like the entire movie is one single long shot and revolves around them all the time. You got to see the making of this movie to understand how intelligent the cinematography is, a truly deserving Oscar. The movie is shot in multiple long shots with intense rehearsals.

And the music/ background sound is so immersive that its bound to increase your heartbeat. Am also so impressed by the props used, the set up, the realism of the film, nothing looks made up, it felt like I was actually right there its happening around me. Plus watching it on an IMAX makes it even more real.

I will go and watch 1917 multiple more times, all on IMAX. You should too.
