Veere Di Wedding Movie Review

This is an A rated review for an A rated movie. Also, this review has spoilers.

You have been warned.

An A rated movie and still the entire movie theatre was full of toddlers and kids (crying and shouting throughout the movie), carried along by parents. Indians will never understand basics! 🙁

Veere Di Wedding is about four close friends (Kalu, Avni, Sakshi, Meera) most of them belong to the high and rich Delhi society. The story revolves around the love lives of each of them. Meera is already married to a gora and has a kid. Avni (Sonam) is desperately looking out. Sakshi (Swara) desperately wants to get out of her failed marriage and Kalu (Kareena) reluctantly agrees to marry her boyfriend but the high intense drama around a high society Delhi marriage kills the spirit.

I loved the character of Sakshi. She is chilled, she is cool and she does not give a damn. All the scenes where she is talking to her aunties is the coolest. Plus she also taught the world that orgasm in hindi is called charamsukh! Avni is that person who does not want to have sex before marriage, but this very rule is making her desperate, so much so that she ends up sleeping with Bhandari, the most chichora launda from the known society. FYI, I liked this Bhandari, his character was so raw, yet he was very romantic from the inside. All the interactions between Bhandari and Avni were damn cute.

The best part of the movie was the portrayal of bonding between friends. Those who know me, knows for a fact that I will do anything to be in touch with my friends, especially outstation ones. This movie kind of kindled my love for close friends, if only life was so simple and all our friends stayed in the same location forever! 🙁

Loved the songs, especially ‘Tareefan’ (2 songs will play in the end along with credits, do not leave too early). The best part about Tareefan is the fact that unlike all other male centric anthem song, this one is female centric with super sexy men craving for the attention (which they get depending on the mood of Avni and Kalu).

A kudos to the censor board for not editing ALL of the scenes and words. A dildo is blurred and a chutiya is muted. I fail to understand why censor board feels that the entire pressure of keeping the society clean of slangs and kissing /sex scenes is on their shoulders. It actually should be the other way, to educate not to hide, as they have the best platform to talk to the entire movie crazy country.

Well, I had a lot of fun and so would you. And yes, here is my genuine request:

DO NOT TAKE YOUR TODDLERS AND UNDERAGE KIDS TO THE MOVIES.
ITS PAINFUL FOR OTHERS.

Issued in public interest. Now enjoy the show.
