Life in HD (high definition) has changed the way you see (and hear) your favorite programs on TV. The HD experience will stun you, to say the least! Though it’s way too early now (there are only 7 HD channels available in Tata Sky HD) but the experience is amazing. The picture clarity and the sound is of the bestest order. It looks like you are playing an original DVD with 5.1 surround sound! [my home theater gives me 5.1]
Thought you might not get to see the same programs all the time as seen on your non-HD channels (especially on Discovery and Nat Geo) but in sometime you will forget to bother about that 🙂
Another good part is that all the channels at ADS FREE – yes you heard it right, there are no advertisements in any of the HD channels. Awesome isn’t it? Yes.
This hits you (for better) the most when you are watching a live cricket telecast, we are so used to ads after every over that ‘no ads’ will actually take sometime to digest! It so happens that in-between overs, drinks break, rain delay etc. all the time you see the ground in High Definition 🙂
I also wonder if all the channels go the HD way, where will the advertisers advertise? Well, that’s a long way to go I guess.

Drawback – The existing set top box becomes a total waste, unless you have another TV at home, you can use this box with minimal additional cost.
New HD channels get added to this package as n when it’s offered.
Currently there are 7 channels only – Star Plus, Star World, National Geographic, Discovery, Star Gold, 1 sports channel (where ever HD telecast is made) and Star Movies.
The cost might sound a bit expensive but over time this will come down and also additions to this package will make it cost effective. All said and done, it’s an awesome experience. You should get this baby home 🙂
