Sultan is a romantic movie. A well made love story at that. Guess after Bajrangi this could be another sensible Sallu movie to watch.
I was late in reviewing this movie as I saw this movie 2 weeks after its release. There was a specific reason for that and that reason needs to be told here. The ticket prices were souring so high I did not find it worth spending that much ( ~ Rs.400), no wonder the collections are so good for this movie.
Sultan (Salman) becomes a world renowned wrestler because of Arfa (Anushka) but his relationship with her goes through a tragic event and everything falls off. How he recovers to get into a similar sport and regains his life, passion, love and respect is all what Sultan the movie is about.
You will love the amount of wrestling you will see. Both from Salman and Anushka (almost). At 50 also he is not doing too bad for this role. Liked his training sequences a lot. But the romantic essence in the movie is what I liked the most. Unlike the most hindi movies where its the girl friend boy friend ka life struggle, this one has husband and wife ka love hate relationship and how they could or should over come it. Anushka’s haryanvi tone is good but no one comes close to Kangana Ranaut (Tanu Weds Manu Returns).
‘440 volt’ and ‘Base pasand hai’ are 2 neat songs. A one-time dekkho is recommended. More so now that ticket rates have come back to normal!
