Rowdy Rathore Review

1 line review: Dabangg remake with a new hero, Shaolin Soccer in hindi. Take it as a comedy movie and you will not mind the nonsensical violence.

2 months back when the first trailer was released I announced it as a ‘flop’. Am glad I was wrong 🙂 The first 30 minutes you will laugh your seat off! The ‘Chinta Chita‘ song is a fun song in the beginning itself (with a surprise element as well)! Few of the jokes are really funny and at times you will start liking the movie for you all you know. A strange feeling, initially.

With Prabhudeva’s direction, you would expect too much emphasis on dance, if not satisfied you will not be disappointed. And the tailors would have already  warned you it’s gonna be another Dabangg or Wanted. There were many sequences where the violence takes over and you might start hating the person who bought the tickets for you but then it soon eases off with a lot of comedy that follows every now n then. ‘Don’t angry me’ will definitely stay with you for hours after you are back. Similarly the ‘Main jo bolta hoon…’ dialogue.

Flying cars and rotating goons will give you a feeling it’s a Rohit Shetty movie and inspired from Singham and all the other car flying movies – Golmaal 1-100. It is NOT. If you are a fan of his movies, wait for Bol Bachchan releasing 6th July 2012.

Ok, back to this movie. Rowdy Rathore might as well be birthday gift for Sonakshi Sinha. This sure gonna be a mega hit. A big houseful for the front benchers, Biharis (Sonakshi is supposedly from Patna in the movie as well), features a surprise south superstar in the Chinta Chita song. A movie for the masses.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali realized pretty late that ‘Black‘ and ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam‘ type of movies was not making him enough money hence he produced this ‘sallu dominated style’ story line. All inspired from the south Indian movies!

Now, this is a BIG relief for Akshay Kumar – he was dying to give a big hit since Singh is Kinng (2008). It took him 17 flops to reach here. According to me the lousiest movie he acted in during this phase was Tees Maar Khan. Akshay will sure dance like rowdy after this movie. Next is Joker in August 2012.

All in all it’s a good fun movie. I laughed a lot (with family) and ignored comical violence. Ye movie miss kar ke, Don’t angry me.

Verdict: 4/5.
