Kala na safyed hai, ishqe da rang grey wala shade hai. Yes, love is complex but love triangles are totally in the grey area. There you go. I just summarised this movie for you. You are welcome.
Even though the first half was moving alright, the second half dragged too much. I would have rated it 4 stars if it was wrapped up in less than 2 hours. The run time of the movie is more than 2 and half hours. With an interval and the initial advertisements, audience runs out of patience. All movies need to finish in 90 minutes or nothing more than 120 minutes. Make a sequel if you really want to show more! OR better still, release it on Netflix and make an awesome series. Teen ghante ki movies ka zamana gaya. Agree?
Back to the movie.
Set in Punjab, Tapsee Pannu (Rumi) and Vicky Kaushal (Vicky) are deeply in love and when Rumi’s family gets to know about it, they ask her to marry him else they will get her married off! (Typical Indian family, sad but thats the truth in most parts of this country, still) Vicky is not ready for ‘zimmedari’ and he escapes, multiple times. This pisses Rumi off and she marries Abhishek Bachchan (Robbi), a proper ‘arrange’ marriage. But pyaar toh andha hota hai. Rumi cannot stop thinking about Vicky. And thus starts the Grey Wala Shade. (so ruthlessly copied from Ishq Wala Love)!
Tapsee is the superstar here. Her flawless acting is worth the time. But the sluggish and way too slow portrayal of the story will keep irritating you even when you are liking the movie. The movie is a Romantic-Comedy-drama. Many scenes are genuinely funny and you will surely laugh out loud but don’t forget to keep calm, even the climax scene drags. Songs are good and they will grow on you, may be. The most irritating part were the two girls who kept popping up from nowhere and for no reason. This reminded me of the movie ‘Life in a metro’ where musicians kept popping up in each song, from nowhere.
Am not sure if I would like to highly recommend you to watch Manmarziyaan but I will surely like you to watch it. Let me know if you feel the same.
And for god’s sake, take those crying babies out of the cinema. PLEASE !!
