Khiladi 786 Review

1 Line Review: Funny at times, irritating at times.

Rating:

Akshay Kumar comes after 12 years to do another Khiladi movie, and he does what brought back money to him few months back – Rowdy Rathore kind of action comedy movie. Guess before Rowdy things were not going good and after that also with a short role in ‘Oh My God’ and the forgettable ‘Joker’, Khiladi 786 might again fetch him enough.

Mind you this movie is co-produced by Himesh Reshammiya, he also has an active role in the movie, has sung most of the songs and has written the story as well! Phew, that’s too much Reshammiya in one movie! And story has no jaan – Rowdy Rathore at least had some story line.

You can mix Rowdy Rathore, Houseful and Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal and you would get Khiladi 786. Same old fighting scenes where the gunda party gets kicked and flies off all over breaking furniture and walls, nothing really genuine. Movie is funny at times but I laughed much more (genuinely) in Rowdy Rathore, I was also caught watching it when it came on TV. I like good humor, not the Golmaal kind.

Mithun has played a good role, Asin did not have much to show her talent hence no comments (frankly I do not like her much), Rahul Singh (ironically named Azad when most of his life he spent in jail because of his own foolishness) is good, Akshay’s family is named 70 Singh, 71 Singh 72 Singh (Akshay) and so on, sometime is wasted in explaining how their family is so multicolor (boring), Himesh Reshammiya’s acting has been pathetic in all his previous movies (don’t judge me, I haven’t watched any, his box office collection speaks for itself) but here he rightly chose a comic character for himself and made fun of himself – fits him well. He was funny at times but his partner Sanjai Mishra (playing Jeevan) was funnier – you would best remember him as the recession stabbed Don in ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’.

Music is foot tapping, it regularly plays in my car and mobile. All in all there was nothing new to offer, funny at times, long boring fight scenes, and almost 2 and half hours long. I was sleepy most of the 2nd half.

Go watch it if you have liked Houseful and Golmaal. You will love it. For the rest – Go watch LIFE of PI again! 🙂
