Jolly LLB 2 Movie Review

Since I became a bigger fan of Arshad Warsi after watching Jolly LLB, I had higher expectation from Jolly LLB 2 (coz it had Akshay Kumar). You might say the earlier movie was based on a very popular incident hence I could relate more, but that was not really the case. The foundation of a story has to be set right within the first 30 minutes and in the first movie Jolly was able to touch my heart instantly with his struggling life but Jolly 2 who cheated a lady only to repent later and then do the pashchyataap. Did not really deserve my instant love and affection!

The Jolly good fellow here came back strong and lived upto the expectations no doubts and was very funny throughout, hands down. Disclaimer, am a big fan of Akshay in comedy roles, Hera Pheri is my all time Akshay favourite. Also, I love court room dramas. Oh My God is another favourite of mine. But the fact remains that I kept comparing it with the first part. Well, why should I not. Annu Kapoor was nowhere close to Boman Irani. Boman’s acting is class apart (remember 3 Idiots?) And to add to all this Jolly LLB won the National Award for the best film.

Ok, enough of comparisons.

Jolly LLB 2 is a full time pass masala movie (minus all the songs). Sourabh Shukla (the judge) is the catalyst for all things good in the story (He won the National Award for Jolly LLB). he manages to keep the audience in good humour and still not deviate from the case in his court. His short takes on his daughter’s wedding preparations are hilarious.

The story does not really have a suspense angle and not really reveals anything substantial that the audience does not already know. There were many religious angles in the story which I did not enjoy. The court set up was particularly well done.

Akshay Kumar was very good but he has done better.

I would not say its a must watch but it surely is a good watch. If you have seen the other Jolly and loved him, you are bound to compare and eventually fall in love with Arshad again. Akshay, no offence.

See you in court.
