Heroine Review

If you are a movie buff you would know that Aishwarya Rai was the initial cast of this movie then I guess the pregnancy took it off from her and landed on Kareena’s lap. This definitely was a blessing in disguise. Her acting is super and this 2.5 hour of heroine centric movie did more than enough justice to the variety of skills she has to offer. But then it was not as pleasing for the audience.

1 Line Review: A ‘Fashion’ inspired movie with glimpses of ‘The Dirty Picture’ and Kangana Ranaut.

I must say that there were hardly any scenes when I did not find Kareena on the screen. With romance, drug addiction, passion to succeed, jealousy and gays, shooting timings, actor vans etc. etc.

Been There Done That.

So what was new in the movie? Nothing. And that ‘148 minutes’ duration time screaming from the film certificate kept luring in my head. I was yawning already. Sorry.

But to be fair to Madhur Bhandarkar and Kareena, the first half was going on well and I did not yawn till interval (confession), it was only in the 2nd half that I found things stretching too much. Audience is not prepared to watch the same old model/heroine drama, drug and love tamasha over and over again. If  there is something new to show, at least it will be some worth giving any consideration. [Not that Ra.One was any good, but anyways]

Many a times Kareena’s medicine obsession and her behavior would remind you of Kangana (she is so much known for such roles that Kangana has become synonyms to this kind of character, hence). And at times you will see her behaving like ‘silk’ from The Dirty Picture. I might be biased all right but that’s how audience would react as all of us like comparing and that’s how our brain ‘really’ works – this is better than that, lousier that this etc. And at times Kareena might even scare you with her kajal rolling down her cheeks look.

The part where Kareena signs up for a non-commercial movie with a role of a prostitute was long drawn. And had a lesbian angle as well. Kuch bhi.

All in all, 2.5 hours + interval + initial 15 mins Vicco cream and paste ads, grrrr surely not the best of time management. I like Kareena but there has to be a limit to what I get exposed to on screen in one single session. Complete over dose.  My love for Katrina Kaif was strengthened, thank you Madhur Bhandarkar.

Verdict: 1.5/5 (0.5 deducted for dragging it too long)
