1 line review: A desi version of ‘Basic Instinct‘.
Plot: A revengeful thriller story of a lady journalist who takes on a corrupt industrialist.
This movie got a ‘A’ certificate for a few backless scenes, a couple of oohs and aahs and a lot of emphasis on the word ‘fu*k’. Stars a new comer in Bolloywood Paoli Dam but a well know name in Bengoli cinema and has done a few good movies there. Like me, you might find a striking resemblance to a thinner version of Tanushree Dutta. But am not complaining.
The Story revolves around an important statement – ‘I fu*k those you fu*k with me’. After getting humiliated by the villain (mentally and physically) the protagonist decides to take her revenge by converting herself to a prostitute! Infact she even gets trained by a professional. Plans her moves carefully by sleeping with the top CEO of the company and a big politician to shake the roots of this corrupt company.
Positives: Not so polished but good performance by Paoli. She looked comfortable carrying herself in those bold scenes as well. You will particularly get impressed by the villain – Siddharth Dhanrajgir (played by Gulshan Devaiah – also seen in ‘Shaitan’ and ‘Dum Maro Dum’). The way he stammers only in front of his dad but otherwise has a personality of a real industrialist’s son, ensures this man has a long way to go in Bollywood. His upcoming movie this year – ‘Halaahal’.
Negetives: All said and done, fact remains this is not a main-line-cinema movie. There are no hard hitting names involved, why the lady leaves her shining journalist career – not portrayed clearly, not so gripping story-line – All in all not a movie that will leave an impact.
Having said that it will definitely work for the careers of Paoli and Gulshan. Especially Paoli, as this is a very bold first step into Bollywood. I will not insist you to go watch this one as it will anyways be on TV with all the cuts. Trust me, you will not mind the cuts.
