Dil Bechara Movie Review

It’s very tough to review a movie when you know you are under peer pressure to give a favourable review as an homage to a good soul who passed away.

Sushant was, is and will remain a great human being, forever. And also one of the best looking actors in the Hindi film industry.

Disclaimer: I did not know him personally, this is an collective opinion that his friends and acquaintances have, which I read and saw online.

Dil Bechara is based on a book called ‘The Fault in our Stars’. I have seen the original Hollywood movie of the same name and it was incredible, I almost cried, sacchi. I only wish I had read the book before! Dil Bechara cannot be termed as a tribute at all. The movie has nothing that could hold Sushant up. I saw the movie only to watch Sushant one last time in action. Make MS Dhoni is his best work and a real tribute than Dil Bechara.

If you are really interested in watching a good film with the same plot, watch the original. Incidentally, that too is available on Hotstar like Dil Bechara.
At times there was just some overacting and at time just not enough emotion. Including from Sushant. This movie is nowhere in his list of best performances. And who wrote Saif Ali’s part and his dialogues in this movie? You should be barred from writing script. Songs are forgettable, other than the title song, which will grow on you eventually, but may not last long in your playlist.
Also disclaimer, watching a movie premier on TV than on the big screen surely takes away the charm. But we are living in unprecedented times. This is the new normal.
I would still recommend you watch Dil Bechara, for Sushant, this one last time (before you pick up MS Dhoni for the 100th time).
For the record, I did not cry, not even close.
