Yes, BARFI! releases this week (14th September 2012). Please note that this is NOT A SILENT FILM but has a fewer dialogues compared to any other hindi movie. People who can speak in the script, do talk in the movie! And going by the promos, you would have already learned its gonna be a very different film from Ranbir Kapoor! His last movie ‘Rockstar’ was a super duper hit [that’s what I thought :)] with a lot of aggression and intensity. This one is much smoother and easy going!
Barfi! (yes, that’s how it is named, with an exclamation mark) has Priyanka Chopra (Piggy Chops) and newcomer (to Bollywood) Ileana D’Cruz.
Few things you should know before you hit the theatre to watch this masterpiece:
- Ranbir Kapoor’s name in the film is ‘Murphy’ and not ‘Barfi’.
- Ranbir plays a mute and deaf young guy.
- ‘Don’t worry, be Barfi’, this is the philosophy of this movie.
- This Murphy believes in spreading happiness. Making people smile is the only purpose of his life.
- Murphy’s character is inspired by Charlie Chaplin and Mr Bean.
- Unlike what seems to appear in the trailers, ‘Barfi!’ is not a silent film.
- The characters who can speak, do speak.
- Director Anurag Basu received his first ‘U’ certificate from Censor Board for ‘Barfi!’.
- The film has few dialogue making that the USP of the film.
- Ileana D’Cruz is the narrator of the film.
- Priyanka Chopra plays an autistic girl in ‘Barfi’.

Disclaimer: I personally believe Ranbir Kapoor is the most talented actor of this generation (he celebrates his 30th birthday on 28th September) and the next Super Star in the making. He is not the Sallu bhaiya or the King Khan of the Hindi Film Industry but is the REAL actor and the real ROCKSTAR.
