This is one Road about which whatever is said is LESS !! Earlier it used to be a clean road even from Dairy circle till Bannerghatta zoo [and am saying just 5 years back]…well, not any more!I have been living in Bangalore since June 2000, have been staying this side since then and I have seen this road change for bad. The road from Meenakshi temple till J D Mara (JP nagar junction) is actually maintained in partnership with a private firm, but you should see how well it is maintained…with many sign boards talking about how much money have been spent to get it up and running. The amount is astonishing, will confirm the amount and put the figure here..soon.
Meanwhile let me tell you the most amazing feature of this road…all the bus stops are AT the signal. Yes you read it right it is bang at the traffic signal – Hulimavu, Arekere, Bilakhalli. Since its a signal there is a right turn and if the right turn is red and its green for the straight going vehicles then you are absolutely stuck as right guys cannot go and on the left side there is a queue of multiple buses getting passengers!! Such a scene, have even seen traffic police guys ignoring this phenomena! I guess they feel it gets too much for them to handle hence leave it unattended!!
There is a simple solution to shift the bus stop 100 meters away, that’s it!!
PLUS, the schools in-between, parents parking their cars on the road, hence one lane goes for toss, another is already taken up by the BIG buses and the right most lane gets jammed with right turning vehicles…..so where should i drive…i guess i should go air-borne!! will get that extra fitting done soon…the WINGS !
Earlier there used to be another issue…water logging on the road…at Bilakhalli, that day all vehicles used to cross the road (towards banerghatta) only after 12am (if you are coming back from office). Once we got stuck in the same jam and were drenched too, changed many routes but still did not get respite for 4 hours…then we went to Barbecue Nation at J P Nagar and ate n drank like …you know who…that night we reached home at 1am.
Now for some future estimation… there are 3 malls coming up on this road within 6 kilometers between BTM layout (Jayadeva junction) till Meenakshi temple…at these 3 locations…
1. Jayadeva junction/signal/flayover (opp shopers stop)
2. JD Mara signal
3. Opposite Meenakshi Temple
Only god can save this already congested road!!
