The movie starts with a quick background of all these ladies in their current profession and how they are all frustrated with whatever they are currently doing. Reaching Goa was in a kind a meditation break for each one of them. Little did they know it would become their life’s most interesting, dangerous and scandalous trip ever!
Freida’s marriage (who invited all others to Goa at her family home) itself was a big surprise to the gang and later there were many other things that unfolded within the group. Everyone was going thru a dark phase and how this get-together helped each one get over many of their concerns. Some, they did not even know existed!
AIG is all about celebrating women bonding (and womanhood of course). I rate this movie as 5 stars as I loved the way it has been portrayed. I could relate to each one of them (mostly) and especially the servant (Lakshmi) who is struggling with something for 8 years. Others too have similar stories.
The biggest surprise (or may be not) are the censor board cuts/beeps in the movie. Even when it has been granted an ‘A’ rating, the number of times the fu*k word has been beeped is outrageous. Guess if the adults listen to that word we will become non-sanskaari. Worst is that many movies with much larger and broader vulgarity go to the cinemas uncut! Go search for the movie ‘Kya cool hain hum 3’, they have even declared it to be India’s first ‘Porn-Com’ and still making it without major cuts! The same dudes on the panel also cut down the kissing scene duration in the latest Bond movie Spectre. Yes, they are saving the country’s sanskaar, scene by scene! They have even blurred Goddess Kali’s picture. How ironic is that for getting sanskari. With such Censor board we will only get to see ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ without cuts!
AIG deals not just with female bonding but much more than that, if I tell you what’s its about then the suspense will be revealed and the movie watching will not be as much fun. Hence I suggest you go watch it. As much as AIG is issue oriented it is as much fun to watch with some serious knock out humour. I burst into laughter multiple times. The actors have done a super duper job of making things appear so natural. They made it feel like its their own life story and never really acting. Now that’s real acting, isn’t it!
You got to watch it. NOW!
Bonus: Look out for Lolipop Ki Lagan.
