Andhadhun: Movie Review

Once in a while an unexpected random movie comes along your way which ensures you do not stop thinking about it for a while (so called critically acclaimed) not the 500 cr bhai movie kinds (I never enjoyed those). Am referring to the movies like Johnny Gaddaar (or Hera Pheri), which I have watched hundred times and will watch it for hundred more times. Koi Shaq?

The drama increased many folds when I missed watching Andhadhun during the release weekend but then I tried booking the ticked every weekday (and weekend) and still all the shows were running houseful, many days after its release. Now you can imagine how much my curiosity rose and then my expectations from this movie went top notch! Then I finally saw it. It will surely go down in the history books as one of the most entertaining movies of 2018.  It fell right in the lap of my expectations. Truth be told, Andhadhun is inspired from a French short film – The Piano Tuner. Nevertheless, this is an awesome movie.

I recently read the autobiography of Ayushmann Khurrana (Cracking the Code), though I strongly feel ‘ye koi umar nahin hai autobiography likne ki’, but then his life stories are  truly inspiring. I learned from him that momentary success should never get into your head. You should continue doing your actual work what you love, coz there is not fast lane to being always successful.

Andhadhun is all about a so called blind man who experiments with his eyesight and gets messed up into a trail of murders. As much as he wants to get out of it, he keeps getting more and more sucked into it. Kismat Konnection. The movie is so so so funny but its not really a comic movie. I just love such movies. There is such serious stuff happening but still every time you are cracking up. Subtle. Awesome.

Ayushmann is a gem of a star and this movie is no exception to this fact. I have loved most of his performances, latest being Barilly Ki Barfi. Then before that Vicky Donor, Dum Laga Ke Haisa and am sure the upcoming ‘Badhai Ho’ will be a super awesome movie as well. While Ayshmann was doing what he does best, Tabu stole my attention from him a lot many times than expected. Tabu is still amazing, I loved her work in Hera Pheri. Radhika Apte’s one liners were funny!

The movie has so many twists and turns that I was always on the edge of my seat trying to guess what will happen next (I was not right all the time). Yes, I agree at times there were predictive twists but then overall the storyline was moving fast enough for me to not judge but enjoy! With a run time of just a little over 2 hours I was actually thinking ye interval kyun hota hai (only in India).

Waise, do tell me what did you think about the climax. I would like to hear your interpretation.

Few of the songs are very beautiful. Enjoy.

You got to watch it. Like now. Yes, now now.
