5 Things You Should Do Before 8 AM

Trust me, things that you can get done with early in the morning cannot be even thought about later in the day! (provided you are those busy types).

Before I come up with those 5 activities and you start thinking of my as some random person giving random ideas, I would like to confirm that this list has been built up from my personal experiences. So here’s the list of 5 things I do and that I think you should also start doing. Before 8 in the morning, that is.

Here we go:

1. Make your own tea: Yes, make the kind of tea (or coffee) that you love the most. You may have your cook or a family member also who could do this for you but only you know exactly what you like. Take that extra step to make your tea/coffee and sip it while reading your book, newspaper or surfing.

2. Twitter: Browse through all the ‘news’ and ‘what’s happing now’ kind of stuff here. All the news on TV gets picked up from here. If you do not have a twitter account, create one now. Start following news sources and the people you look up to. NOW. Check out my twitter profile for understanding.

3. Read a book/ newspaper/ Magazine: Be it just a few pages or a few articles only, but do. This could be your favourite book but you never get time to read it fully. Keep trying, start with a few pages. Till the time newspaper reaches your doorsteps atleast. Or if you keep a worthy magazine at home ,scan a few pages. A list of good books is available in one of my most popular posts – 7 Habits I Learned from Successful People.

4. Have a healthy and heavy breakfast: I would be the Billionth person to say this but I would still say it – Breakfast should be the most sumptuous of all your meals during the day. Goes without saying your dinner should be the lightest. But we Indians have the bad habit of doing just the opposite. Follow this rule as a must. This not only keeps your body fit, it all keep your rejuvenated for the entire day.

5. Exercise: Do whatever you feel like or what you love – Walking, jogging, cycling, yoga, situps at home, Baba Ramdev style exercises, go to the gym (this is the most demanding of all). Do something. I walk and walk a lot. I also use Runkeeper to track my speed, frankly I have become more regular after I started using this app. On a weekly basis I review my walk schedule and then plan the coming week accordingly.

Hope you would have found these points helpful. Do share your view in the comment section.

  1. Very nicely expressed Aditya..I do this all except Twitter, Breakfast & Exercise part…In Twitter, I am highly irregular…Do my exercise/work out in the evening & have my breakfast after 10 AM 😛 😀

  2. Nice.. Best one is "Make your OWN tea".. Agree to it 100% nd hence I hate to fall ill which compels me to have someone else's made tea :(… Reading a fiction which can take me to a different world, is the next best thing to do in the morning.. Heavy Breakfast-Am a die hard propagator of it… But Twitter?!?!- Not Sure (i would rather like to listen to the Bird-Tweets outside, which is rare now-a-days)… and my Run-keeper starts in the evening..

  3. Wow, loved your comment. Awesomely written Neha! 🙂 Amazing to see we do 4 out of 5 things same! My runkeeper also starts in the evening at times when I do not get time in the morning. And twitter is important to me to get on top of the news around the globe. That's the fastest. Hence. But glad to know you are also a tea lover, and a lover just like me! 🙂

  4. Oh Yes! good to know our commonalities Aditya.. I love to relish my tea sip by sip.. Wake up early, so I can enjoy my ME time before 7 AM with a cup-of-tea in the right and a good-read in the left.. 🙂
